I am ready to upgrade my 20 year old Cerwin Vega 3-Way floorstanding speakers. After reading all of the reviews and posts here, I would probably like the M50s or M60s. Most people here say go for the 60s, but my living room is only 15' x 12' and I'll be sitting 8' from the speakers. Would the 60s be too much for this room (w/ an Onkyo TX-595 75W/channel receiver)? And if I get the 50s, will I miss the mid-range of the 60s (and bass that I have on my CVs)? Thanx.

Either go with the 22's and a sub, or go with the 60's.

Don't expect the "same" bass that you have on the CVs. Expect better! The bass will be amazingly cleaner, tighter and much, much more accurate. It will probably take some getting used to so keep an open mind about the bass.
BTW, the mid range on the 50s and 60s should sound identical and IMHO, the 60s would not be overkill for you room size. Just my opinion but you know what they say about opinions.....

Yes, you will hate the bass from the M60s for a little while if you really like your C-Vs. Then you'll realize what you had been missing... I would recommend a sub either way, though (unless the M60s are much more substantial in the bass than, say, Paradigm Monitor 9s, which I doubt)

I agree with what everyone else has said about the bass. At first you'll probbly think. Huh what the heck... did they plug the woofers in? Then when you start hearing the bass guitar's vibrations as deep and clear as they are and the bass tight and precise you will love it. Then after you get used to the axioms bass do a A/B test with the cv's and you'll go. Oh god! ive been listening to those things all this time.!
( based on my own experiences! )

Even if you do get the M60's, you'll want to get a good sub (Hsu or SVS) to really make the lows "rumble". With my M60's there are times when listening to stereo music that I will turn the Hsu VTF-2 sub off. However the tight clean bass that you'll get from the Axiom's is quite different from the Cerwin Vegas bass that you're used to so you'll want the sub especially for home theater and lower Db listening levels.

I'd say M22 + sub would be good for that room...unless you are just against bookshelves and only want towers.

I agree. Your room isn't big at all. Sitting only 8' away from the M60ti's would not be the best situation.
A pair of M22ti's and a Hsu STF-2 will blow your mind.

I still haven't decided whether to get M60s or M50s (or even M22ti). The M60s might be overkill for my 15x12 room (even though a call to Axiom said they're not), but I'm concerned that I would miss the midrange on the others. And since I've been listening to 3-way CVs for 20 years, the M22ti's might sound too shrill.
Decisions, Decisions,....
