Hi,

I just bought Denon AVR 789 receiver and Axiom VP150, Suround QS8, etc. speakers. Consider me as beginner to learn the wirings, two basic questions I have at this time:

1) Do I need to connect speaker wire at left and right both terminals of VP150 and QS8? Or just one connect to either left or right terminal?

2) What's the minimum power output from AVR 789 to Front Speaker connection? I know max is 90 Watts, but what's minimum...

Thank you so much!!!

NAP, welcome. For each speaker a length of speaker wire, which consists of two wires, is run from the two terminals(+ and -) on the receiver which power that speaker to the two terminals(+ and -) on the speaker.

There's theoretically no minimum power output; the lower the level of sound, the lower the power needed. For an average comfortably loud sound level typical speakers use about 1 watt. For a very low sound level a thousandth of a watt might be used.

1) Connect + and - terminal for every speaker to the corresponding speaker + and - jack on the receiver. if you look in the manual it will show diagrams, pretty simple.

2) Not really sure what your asking here. It depends on how low or loud you adjust the volume. If you look at a speakers specs (for ex 93dB's 1w 1m) it would only require "1 watt" from a "1 meter" distance to give you "93dB's" in volume, that is pretty loud.

Unclear on your question. You DO have two front left and right speakers in addition to the center (only) channel VP150, don't you? It almost sounds like you are (incorrectly) thinking you want to wire L & R front speaker wires to the Center channel. Yo do NOT want to do that. Have you looked at the manual?
You would serve yourself very well to go here for guidance on setting up your 789 .

The Denon manual is terrible. Go to the link above!
