Hi all:

Long time lurker, occasional poster, constant Axiom dreamer.

I currently have a motorized screen, but want to frame the projection area better.

1) Anyone have suggestions on home theater curtains?
2) Did you buy curtains specific to a home theater setting?
3) Or did you just buy regular curtains that you put around your screen?
4) How about motorized tracks?
5) Finally, any suggestions on where to purchase?

Thanks!

I just painted my front wall black. Some use screens with a black velvet border. As long as your wall is a darker color and not a reflective paint you won't get reflections from your projector.

And the Ninjas will stay hidden as well. You don't want them ruining the movie.

Personally, I thought about this issue and neither my wife or I could ever find a picture of home screen curtains that we enjoyed the look of. We are opting to just paint our wall a dark matte color and build our screen sized for the most common 16:9 movie ratios.

I have seen some very nice motorized trim packages that do the same thing but blend much better than wrinkled curtains. They are expensive though so they are on my, "win a large sum of money" list.

Being handicapped I frequent home automation websites and I found these . There is a drapery store in my city that sells an entire kit including the drape, so maybe you'll find something the same. I spoke with them quite a while ago and they are expensive, and I believe it was from a major blind/drape manufacturer.

Thanks to everybody for their responses.

My wife and I are planning on painting a dark color as the walls are currently white and the reflected light is pretty bad. We were considering doing a curtain type set up on the sides to help frame the screen more, but perhaps it won't be entirely necessary.

Thanks again!

I purchased my screen material from Dazian, which has been providing movie theaters screen and drapery material for 100+ years. They may have something.
