Hi Guys,

I'm new here. I had never heard of Axiom until I joined up over at the AVS forum. I'm looking to put together a mid sized system for my office. I mostly play games on my 360 and PS3 in there. Some occasional movies and lots of music.

So far the only speakers I'm definite on is the M22's. They seem to be what I'm looking for. Something in between a tower and bookshelf.

I'm looking for a really strong center channel. I sometimes have a hard time hearing some centers, so I don't if I would be better off getting the VP100 or VP150.

I don't have a whole lot of room to play around with. My viewing area is about 10'x15, so I'm going to bet the QS4's would be the best bet for surrounds.

I'm going to keep my pioneer sub for now until I get everything else in and see how much of a sub I really need.

The receiver I have is the Onkyo TX-SR605 and a Samsung T240HD monitor. I'm using some Polk satellites for speakers at the moment and they really aren't cutting it anymore.

Any advice, suggestions, or comments would be appreciated.

Brent

Welcome Brent. Do you have a specific budget in mind? The M22/100-150 would be an excellent system combined with a sub on the bottom end. If your budget permits though, I would certainly look at the QS8's over the QS4's for the better range and power handling. They're not too much bigger than the 4's either.

Thanks for the welcome! I don't really have a set budget in mind as of yet. Axiom's layaway plan will allow me to buy a little more speaker than I normally would, since I won't have to come up will all the cash all at once.

I was thinking of building a little bit at a time. Starting off with the M22's and auditioning them. If I'm digging them, paying them off and getting the surrounds and center next.

I do eventually plan on upgrading my receiver to higher model Onkyo w/ pre outs and stepping up to a 7.1 or 7.2 channel setup and getting towers for the front and either move the M22's to another room or to the back to finish the rear surrounds.

Sounds like a plan, you might be able to audition some Axiom's in your area before you buy them by contacting Axiom directly and/or checking the "Hearing Things" thread. If not you can try them on the 30 day trial, which may be better so you can hear them in your own room.

I agree with Brent. The QS4s will be plenty for his room. As Johnk would write, if you don't use it, its only wasted power [handling].

The M22 is a great speaker and I think you will really enjoy them for gaming. There is someone else here who uses the M22 and VP100 for gaming and he is very happy with that setup. If you look through the picture gallery you will find him.

Edit: Here ya go

Considering the cost difference between the QS4's and 8's, my choice would be the 8's. I'm sure the 4's would be plenty for a smaller room such as this, but you have to consider the LONG RANGE plan...the 3000cf theatre 5 yrs from now!!

What was I thinking? You're right. He should go for the M80s now too.

P.S. Am I still in the club??

Have you considered using headphones. They would be fantastic in a small room for music but speakers would be a little better for movies and games.

That said the M22s are a fantastic choice especially since you can demo them for 30 days. You might consider an M2 center to go with the M22s if you can fit one above or below your screen. I think Fred is using 2 of them as centers for his M80s.

If you plan on this system staying in this room I would go with the QS4, however if you think there’s a chance you might be moving it to a larger room I would consider the QS8s. Also I would stick with 5.1 for now.

Brent, another welcome. The M22s should be excellent. As Dean mentioned, if you have the room to place it appropriately a third M22 positioned vertically or an M2 could also be considered for a center speaker with wide and smooth horizontal dispersion.

Also, don't forget that you can save 10% if you purchase through the factory outlet.
