Man this thing is a beast. I couldn't imagine anyone needing that much bass. I really want their sub 25, even though it would be overkill for me. But, that's just part of this hobby .

I like how his chest is vibrating so hard he can't talk straight.

Is it his chest or just the sound waves acting upon the mic that is causing that effect?
I like how the glass walks across the top of the sub. It doesn't move much but does move.

Actually Jay, I'm not all that impressed. There is a fellow over on avsforum. Bossobass who has done the same test on his dual opposed 15" subs at similar volumes. There is not even a ripple on the surface of the liquid in the glass and definately no movment of the glass.

It seems to me that here should be some movement especially with that glossy finish and those dbs. Some box resonance can be desirable if incorporated into the design ala Axiom's subs.

Is there a significance to what they are demonstrating with a glass not moving or moving very little?
How does this translate to better performance?

With dual opposed drivers, their motion/momentum cancels out so, as long as there is no cabinet resonance, you should get no movenent at all. Bosso pumps several thousand watts through each sub and has several in his room. He doesn't need any cabinet vibration to boost response. I wasn't aware that axiom incorporates cabinet resonance into the design. That would be contrary to their philosophy of accurate sound reproduction as resonances would occur only at certain frequencies.

That would be those nasty harmonics(2nd order?) that get mentioned quite often on other sites. AFAIK, Paradigm builds their subs, not surprisingly, with similar built in harmonics as they have a similar sound to Axiom and it is a sound I quite like for music.

Actually, the harmonics you refer to are produced by the driver itself. Cabinet resonance is determined by box size and how well the box is braced. What happens is that the panels in the box will absorb sound at sympathetic frequencies and then re-radiate them.
The large scale movement you saw of the glass and liquid in the Paradigm video is probably from the momentum generated by two drivers moving in and out in unison.
