I wonder if blind people would tend to get more "enjoyment" out of reading braille erotica or out of these raised pictures. My guess would be the text would do more, but it would be interesting to hear feedback from actual blind people.

For the record, I want it noted that my very first topic post concerns pornogrpahy. Thank you. Thank you.
I'd have been more impressed if you had spelled it correctly! Give him a break! He was typing with his left hand!

On a more serious note on addressing the issue, you can use a dedicated Media Centre PC coupled to a Server to allow you to preserve, in digital format, old analogue videos that cannot be found on any newer format. The Server can also feed the rest of your house PCs.
A few years ago I used a video capture card on a PC to assemble old VHS tapes that would never officially appear in a digital format. It was basically a matter of hooking up the VHS machine directly to the PC's capture card. Obviously use the best output sources on the VHS (likely S-Video and a Stereo audio source). Other old analogue sources are identical in the procedure.
DVDs and Blu-rays are super-easy to back up. Google is your friend.
Depending on the amount of data you want to back up, you can get away without a Server and just use internal storage on a PC. Hard drives are currently available in up to 2Tb sizes. If you use a RAID-5 array using three 2Tb drives, you can have 4Tb of storage, and redundancy in case of drive failure. Most consumer "enthusiast" motherboards have RAID-5 with up to four drives, therefore you can build a PC with 6Tb redundant storage.
Also FYI, a DVD's typical size is 6 to 7 Gb (Max 8.54 Gb). Blu-rays are much bigger, usually about 40 Gb (Max ~50 Gb). My analog-to-digital conversions didn't take a whole lot of space (they were less than 4 Gb).

No worries, Dr. Riviera. Achmed slays me every time.

Off Topic, but since I'm new I'll introduce myself, ironically to some, in the Porn discussion area. In a nutshell: Dave, mid-40's, wife, 3 younger kids, aviation industry, close to Edmonton, airplane junkie, movie buff, computer geek.
I just finished installing a big wrap-around wall unit that houses our entertainment centre. I replaced some big 'ol Kef Q80's I bought in Germany during my Air Force days in the early 90's with an Epic GM 350 system with an additional 2 in-ceiling rear surrounds. I had to lay the front L/R speakers on their sides to make it all work, but that's the only comprimise. The addition of the Axiom speakers added a new dimension to our home theatre experience. I am quite happy with the added fidelity; hearing things I had never heard in some movies that I've played dozens of times (eg. The Matrix 'Lobby Scene' when Trinity does the wall walk then kicks the SWAT dude in the head, she 'kiheis' (martial arts yell). In the dozens of times I've watched that flick, I had never heard that amongst the cacophony of the battle!
At one point I had a 19 foot long bare wall loaded with DVDs stacked against it. It got to the point where, despite alphabetizing the collection, I couldn't find a movie in the sea that was DVD cases, and it was honestly a dusty eyesore. That wall was where the wall unit was built. The DVDs and Blu-rays are now downstairs in the crawl space out of sight and the contents are on my server (shhhh), but now I can find my favorite movies in an instant, snuggle up on the couch with my bride after the kids are in bed and watch an old classic by picking up my remote. It's wonderful! My wife can work the system too, so I know I've done good!
The irony? NO porn on the Server or home network!
