I was going to file this under "What yummy thing...," but I've always thought there should be a Candy thread, so here.
Last week I was sent a large bar of hand made chocolates from friends in Maine. Their favorite thing at the chocolatier these days is chocolate covered bacon. They appear to be "bernanas" over it.
I was excited to try it. I shared it with a half a dozen people. Four big "yays," 2 big "nays." Add me to the nays. Really hoped to like it-- the sweet/salty thing. I think it's the hickory smokiness with the chocolate that does me in.
Anyone else had some? Any other recent exciting candy discoveries?

I've seen those and heard about them. . .and had one in my hand at the World Market here, but didn't feel like spending the 5 bucks, or whatever it was.

What a coincidence. I just had the Mo's Bacon Bar for the first time when I was in Chicago. Sean, it was at a World Market, I believe. $7 if I remember right. I'd wanted to try it for a long time after first seeing it in the Zingerman's catalog, back when I ordered the Zzang! candy bars. Never got around to it until just now. I liked it pretty well. I was having trouble finding gifts to bring back from Chicago. My friend suggested the Chicago Mix from Garrett. Thankfully, they had a Garrett in the airport, so I was able to get some really fresh stuff to take home. Also, I stumbled onto a Vosges shop. I ended up with two of these for my closer friends. We'll see how they like the weirder ones.

I have a weakness for the Vermont Country Store's sugar plums. I usually buy several boxes each year and hand them out to friends for Christmas presents. They are decadent with a glass of ruby port and just a wee bit of cayenne.
The thought of bacon and chocolate does not sit well with me. But now that I've heard it, I have to try it.....

Bacon and chocolate does sound weird but it's the salty that works REALLY well.
If you ever run into dark chocolate w/ fleur de sel. THAT is really good.
Anyone ever catch the episode of Modern Family where Manny drank milk chocolate w/ salt? He's on the right track...

Only if I can get it in Turkey bacon. Otherwise, no thanks. I doubt if I'd go bernanners over it either.
