I like the grilles off. Especially with a nice wood finish like that.
Like Tom said, the full length grille just covers too much, but I know that is predicated on the amount of drivers. The production grilles will have a reveal at the top and bottom of the baffle, allowing more of it to be visible.

Thanks for the info, Andrew. It's a shame to cover up so much of the speaker if one gets a custom finish!

Are the grills the only difference between the left and right versions? That and the angles of the rear baffles. Ah! Thank you! It was not apparent to me from the pictures that the rear baffles are not parallel to the front.
