I was needing some help on the crossover settings on my M80s, Axiom suggested setting them to large and 40hz and setting the rest of my axiom to small and 80hz, I have the SVS PC + and they suggested setting all to small and 80hz to let the subwoofer take on all the bass and it is the THX standard. Plus if I set the fronts to large all LFE signals get sent to the fronts also which on certain DVDs can be below 20hz. Also setting them to large could cause bass cancellation problems between the fronts and the Sub
Thou my receiver does have separate crossover settings for each signal so for movies (Dolby, DTS etc..) I could set the fronts to small and 80hz while on (stero, DVD Audio) I could set them to large and 40 Hz.
I have no idea really what to do, anybody played around with these settings and now what should be done?

I'm getting an M80 setup in the next couple of weeks and I, also, have an SVS 20-39 PCi (two actually).
I'm actually a bit curious about this myself. I currently have Polk RT2000p's and on my B&K Ref31 I have the Polks set to small (they actually go down to 32 Hz at the +- 3dB) and crossover at 80Hz to my SVS. Had it this way for a while.
I think it might be a good idea to cross over your mains a little sooner than 80Hz. Actually, 60Hz might be perfect. You wouldn't want to go 40Hz because with the 24dB lowpass slope, you'd be passing signals below what the M80 could handle. So go with 60Hz minimum.
My issue is that my B&K Ref 31 will only let me set a single crossover for my system. So, theoretically, I'd like to set the mains at 60Hz, but if I do so, then my center and surrounds will have some really low bass sent to them. And looking at the Axiom product line, the VP150 and QS8's don't go real low - VP150 = 85Hz +- 3dB and QS8 = 95Hz +- 3dB (my current CC, a Polk CS400i can reach down to 40Hz). So this means that even if I crossover at 80Hz, I will be sending some signals (albeit diminished) that the Axiom center and surrounds won't be able to handle. I don't want to set the crossover higher than 80Hz globally because then my SVS's will be too localizable.
If all you have is the M80's, I'd probably set the mains to 60Hz and be done with it. Giving your fronts more full range will sound better with music. If you have the Axiom center and surrounds, like I am going to get, it's a different situation.
Opinions anyone?

yes I also have the VP150 and 4 QS8's for surround, pics are here http://f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/retraceoj/slideshow?&.dir=/e88d&.src=ph
My receiver lets me set the crossover setting for the fronts, center, side, rear and subwoofer, also can set it different for all inputs(Dolby, DTS, Stero etc...)
Im thinking then setting the fronts to small and 60 while setting the rest of the speakers to 80 and give it a try

Trace, in my view the better advice was from SVS. Set all speakers "small" and the crossover at 80Hz so that the speakers and sub can handle the frequencies which they do best with a minimum of interference with each other.
