I am looking at a new receiver and reviewing the specs of receivers and refreshing my memory on the VP-150. I re-realized the VP-150 is a 6 ohm speaker. Can I ignore that from a practical sense and just buy something like a new Denon AVR-X2000, Onkyo 727 or Yamaha RX-V 675. I am sure they are all fine as I used the VP-150 for the past few years without noticing anything but figure I might as well look into it since I am buying a new receiver.

Yes Greg; any modern receiver such as the ones you mention should have no problems in typical home use regardless of whether the speakers happen to have an 8ohm, 6ohm or 4 ohm rating.

Glad to hear my suspicions were correct.
