I have an odd question, one or two of my speakers have what look like glue residue on the black veneer. I imagine it’s from the application process. What’s the easiest way to remove it without damaging the veneer?

Is this wood veneer? Is it clear coated? I would try a rubber eraser if it looks like contact cement. If they used the liquid glue method then i would try a cloth and some water. Post a pic if you can.
