Does anyone know if the AX3's are magnetically shielded? I can't bare to part with these speakers and want to build a HT setup around them.

Hi robhow,
No, the AX3's are not magnetically shielded, but depending on how sensitive your TV's picture tube is--it can vary with screen size and individual vagaries of different sets--you may be able to get them as close as 1 foot without any distortion of color values.
You can test this by turning on your TV set and gradually moving one AX3 near the TV while you watch the screen for any alteration of color values or a colored fringe or halo in white or gray areas. You won't do any permanent damage to the TV picture tube. Any residual magnetism dissipates within a day or two.
