Hi Everyone,
We are building a new house and unfortunately still no entertainment room. I have M 80's Qs8's VP 180 EP 500. I have attached photo of my last room set up and what i was thinking of again. In addition I will have 2 ceiling speakers somewhere in line with the couch. Last time i mounted my QS8 as the picture shows in front as presence speakers. Can't say i really noticed much effect, maybe i'm not supposed to. I have no opportunity for rear speakers. Should i bother mounting the Qs8's in front again or no point? Any other suggestions?
Sorry can't seem to add photos here is a link with the photos

Do you have a drawing or can you describe the new room.
Like to know why you can’t get the QS8’s behind you or off to the sides.
Not sure how you want to configure your system … how are you planing on using the ceiling speakers?

Get some QS stands and put them beside the couch.

unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a way to add pictures or drawings. The area is a large rectangle divided in 3. The living room is the far left, followed by dining and then the kitchen on the right. Similar to the house in this link https://www.houzz.com/photos/open-plan-kitchen-contemporary-dining-room-sacramento-phvw-vp~92339 . To add rear ground speakers i would need a stand which I actually have but would not look so good. Also i would have to hard wire cable in the floor coming out of the tile. Not so pleasing visually. One side of the living room is glass panels for the deck and the otherside is with glass to the front yard area.

Pictures need to be hosted on a different site. See this post: Post445746

If you have or put in a large area rug you can run wires under that to your surrounds. I've used flat speaker cable in the past under rugs:

This wire is 16ga ... I paralleled the + and - together to get the equivalent of ~13ga ...

Also there are nice looking stands out there for under $100 ... like this or this

That is interesting, I haven't seen wire like that. Not to be difficult, but we moved to Costa Rica and rugs are somewhat a no no for bugs and mold etc. I have come to the realization that in a non theatre environment and especially in an open concept home with outside noise I may as well give up and the perfect sound lol. Would you bother mounting the QS8's in front as height speakers?

I was in Costa Rica 6 months ago, and now that you mention it I don't think we saw any rugs ... everything was tile or wood ...

Your making this difficult grin ... Guess, there's no perfect solution ...
My next thought would be to find a way to run the wires and cover them over (like using the thin wire along the wall/in-wall and under an entended threshold if there is a door) ... then putting a mat over it as it crosses the tile to get under the couch ... (personally I'd just put low voltage and power boxes in the floor (but that's me).

Guess it's easiest to skip the whole thing ...

Presence speakers are supposed to be mounted outside of the main speaker boundaries. You mounted yours inside.

I very much doubt the QS8 makes for a good presence speaker due to their driver orientation. The QS10 would be better and the M5 would be best. You could trade them in for M5s.
