Or the Revel Ultimas.

In the down to Earth arena, you'll probably want to go with M60s or 80s (depending on what the Axiom experts recommend for your room), the VP150 (or a pair of them!), a pair of QS8s for the sides, and a pair of M22s for the rears. Amplification wise, you should probably look at the Odyssey Stratos, the Outlaw line, the Anthem line, etc. Subwoofer, you'll probably want to look at most of the SVS Ultra subs, or the Hsu HO-1220.

chris, as was recently explained to me, money is not the issue, but the lack of money is the issue. back to topic..vp150, 2 qs8's and two 60's. many here suggest other than axiom's sub, but i do have the ep350, and it does the trick for me.

If it were me...

M60ti mains
VP150 center
QS8 surrounds
M2i rears
Hsu VTF-3 MKII

If you're interested in other brands and truly want to spend too much money...

Energy Veritas
B&W (7 and 8 series...stay away from their 6 series)

As far as amps/processors/receivers...

I've been very happy with my Rotel gear. Their RSP-1098 and RMB-1075 & RMB-1080 amps would be my first choice. Parasound and Anthem are also very popular choices for people going the separates route, but they're also a bit pricier.

Good luck, you lucky dog.

I'm guessing you mean money is not an issue when looking at Axioms pricing, right? I would recommend the M60s, QS8s, and kick-a$$ sub. Don't skimp on the sub if you have some extra bucks laying around. For a center channel the VP150 works very well, though some folks will recommend a vertical center if you can cope with how it looks in your HT.

You mentioned "receiver" in your original post. I have a Denon (as does about half this board it seems), HKs come well recommended as well. I wouldn't spend more than a $1000 for one in either case. Diminishing returns after that it appears to me.

Anything left over in your budget could be used down the road for tinkering/"upgrading".

Even if money isn't an issue, four M80's in a room his size is not going to work well.

That is a difficult question, as the total could be hundreds of thousands of dollars.

But the bigger questions is : Will you be happier than if you chose your pieces carefully, and received what you consider value for your money?

Here is a list of some mfg'ers that could make it a very expensive list:

Speakers - Reference 3a, Totem, Martin Logan, Thiel
Processors - SIM Audio Moon
Amps- Bryston, SIM Audio Moon, Krell
Source - SIM Audio, Exposure, CAL
Cables - Wireworld, Pierre Gabriel

You could build a very expensive solution -but we tend to forget WHY we are spending our hard earned money - the entertainment - be that music for the non HT corwd, or viewing pleasure for the HT fans.

I think you can get some Wilson X2's for around 100k or so. Throw in a Wilson XS sub for 25k or whatever it's going for. Maybe get some Levinson equipment. Probably at 150k with just two speakers a sub and a preamp and amp.

You did say money is not an issue right?
