I am trying to mount the Axiom Full Metal Bracket (FMB) on my VP150, so I can mount the VP150 on the wall on top of my TV.

The diagram here:
http://www.axiomaudio.com/FMB.html#

shows wood screws being used, but there is a screw already in the back of the speaker, exactly the same as the QS8s. (I already have my QS8s mounted using this screw through the middle of the FMBs).

However, unlike the QS8s, the washer underneath the screw did not come off when I removed the screw, and when I put the bracket on over top of the washer the FMB is not really sitting flush, as it is now 1mm away from the speaker.

Can I use the speaker like this, or will I run into problems? Is that washer supposed to come off? I hesitate to pull it off with a screwdriver, as I dont really want to damage the speaker finish.

Anyone?

brent, i think the washer is actually the head of the metal insert. i mounted my 150 with the fmb to the under side of the top of the ent center. it fits about an inch or two above the plasma, and is slightly tilted down. the tilt improved the performance, and made the bride very happy that she finally could put her framed print back on the top of the cabinet. i think i got to sleep in the big bed that night.

I just happen to have an allen wrench handy. Both the screw, and the washer came right out / off of my VP150. The washer on yours might have a small amount of the adhesive used to bond the vinyl to the cabinet holding it in place.

Try this, remove the allen screw, find a flat blade that fits snugly into the center of the washer. Insert the screwdriver into the washer, and gently rock it from side to side. (If you put the screwdriver in the hole vertically, rock the screwdriver up and down. If you put it in the hole horizontally, rock it from left to right.)

This should prevent you from inflicting any harm.

If that doesn't work, you can rent a jackhammer from your local tool rental shop.

I edited this after reading what twodan wrote. Maybe Axiom used 2 different kinds of blind nuts... Be careful trying my method if your's doesn't readily come off...

Good luck,

Can't help you w/ the VP150 thing, but how do you guys like the FMB for your QS8s? Specifically, how much movement does it allow? Are they eventually going to loosen up and leave your QS8s pointing straight down?

Ideally, I'd like my QS8s to be pointing 20-30 degrees downward and inward as much as possible (I have them mounted flush on the back wall, 8' up currently - far from ideal).

Hope this doesn't qualify as a hi-jack.

Sorry Mark. Was just reaching for a knock on your "hi-jack."

I don't have the FMBs so I can't be of any help anyway. But my "joke," bad or not, didn't prevent anyone else from responding, did it? Why are you mad at me?

Hi Mark, I have the FMB with the QS8. This link shows them about as far in and down as they could possibly go. Hope it helps.www3.telus.net/public/jklasher/

Thanks, jake. The degree of downward angle appears adequate for my plan. You don't have the QS8s pointed inward at all though, right?

Jack, I ain't mad at you. I wasn't even complaining. You da man!
