Hello everyone, I've been hovering this forum nearly a month and have decided to purchase a pair of m22's that will be powered by my hk230 receiver. Can the axiom stands(css2,ss24,ss16) be filled with sand? Do they have some sort of wire management? Thirdly, what other stands other than the axioms would you recommend that can fulfill my needs/wants? Thanks, Richeydog.

For about $20 total and 2 hours of labor time you can build the best speaker stands from materials you'd buy at HomeDepot - custom made for m22's :-)

Speaking for the SS series - no, they're wood plates on the top and bottom with I believe aluminum tubes as risers, technically, I guess you could fill the tube with sand but, they're not made for it, and it's not required. If any stand is going to be someplace where it's likely to be toppled, chances are you shouldn't use them, either bracket the speaker to the wall or get floorstanders, heavy stands won't fall over, they'll stand beautifully upright while the bookshelf falls over.

Yes, just like the product page for them says "A handy hole in the back of the pole allows for hidden wire management." the wire is fed into a hole at the top of the stand and comes out under the bottom plate.

Thanks for your responses. I do like the idea of making my own stands so I'll visit HomeDepot and Lowes this afternoon and see what I can come up with.
