Hi i have a pair of m3ti's and a panasonic sa-he200 receiver, I have noticed that on alot of my music when it becomes quieter with only one instrument or a lull in the music I start to hear alot of notice pops and cracks in the sound. These pops and cracks are also heard when I hook up my headphones (sony mdr-600) to my reciever. Any one have any suggestions as to how to solve this problem or things that i should check? I have played many many different recordings and still hear the same problem.
Thanks

What type of source are you using? CD's, Tape or phono?
Try checking your cables from your source.

I think I might have been vague...
Does the noise happen on all sources? If it's just one source try using different cables. Is it in one channel or both? If that doesn't work try a different input on the receiver. Are you using optical?
As you can see there are a lot of variables here.

Ya there are so i'll go through the list of my setup
I have tried using two sources
One is my computer with an Audigy NX connected to reciever via optical link.
Another is my home dvd player connected via optical link.
I have also tried connecting my computer to the reciever via spdif.
cracks come from both channels from my speakers as well as headphones.
cd's from computer and dvd player, as well as some mp3's from computer

I'm guessing the problem is the receiver! That's the common element. Have you tried the tuner section of the receiver, just to eliminate sources altogether?

Have you tried just anolog? I know it's not the best, it might help trying to determine the root cause.

Just for giggles I would also check your power cord. Try plugging it in to another outlet etc. I doubt that is it but you might as well start from the outside vs the inside.

I had a simular problem about a month ago. Try looking at the technical questions under "help, I've got a crakle".
As it turns out, when I unplugged the power plug to my iPod the crackleing stopped. I understand that any type of wallwart can cause this problem.
Thanks tleigh for that piece of info.

well if this helps to diagnose the problem, it seems the crackles on mine always happen at the same time in a song, i've gone back many times and heard the same crackles on the same part of the song on both my speakers and my headphones. is this still consistent with the wall wart thing?

Strange... that sounds like a problem with the recording as opposed to anything else.
