Just one more question and I'll get out of the way. Can I use a Proxima data projector to watch movies? Maybe, just not very bright?

A lot depends on the model? Most data projectors are designed for data/presentations. These normally have a lot more lumens than home theatre projectors. Normally data projectors are going to be a 4:3 aspect ratio (like normal tvs) and not 16:9 format, which I prefer, as I use mine for mainly dvd movies and hd television. Will it work, yes, most likely, and you may have to tweek with the contrast/brightness and other settings to get it to work to your liking, as I'm sure it is preset for data type presentations.
good luck
