There seems to be a lot of controversy about interconnecects and speaker wire, specifically regarding whether one make can be better than another... Especially considering you can spent less than $10, or up to $100,000 on wiring your system.
I like to read up on things before I dive headlong into a major investment (as it might end up being depending on your choice). I recommend seeing http://www.uhfmag.com/Issue63/interconnect.html - UHF magazine, for some insights.
The real test of whether or not to spend the extra dollars should come from what sounds the best. Often better cables will make your system sound WORSE because they are poorly matched (all bright equipment and bright cables as well might not please you). Also, matching good cables and good speakers like Axiom's to poor sources and amplifiers will only show you how poor the sources and amplifiers are.
Happy listening!

hi Scott,
in my opinion, I cannot say I have ever heard cables sound differently. Copper is copper. The differences I have heard when switching cables for my speakers are when the gauge is changed. 16 awg sounded different than 12 awg. I also once tried microphone cable, and it sounded very different. It was a very clean sound, but there was a lot of volume loss, and the bass was extremely thin.
