It does seem as if the most common complaint of the M22/60s/80s line is the perceived (real or not) brightness. For those of you who have tried to adjust this, which was more effectient, putting resistors on the speakers or adjusting the treble through the receiver?

TNT - the resistors cut back the amount of signal that goes to the tweeters... like closing the tap a bit on the audio hose running to the tweeter. Cutting back a straight "treble" control (which probably operates over a 3
octave band!) will also cut back what's sent to the woofer.

Each solution does a different thing - it's up to you to decide what it is you want. Can't help you there, I don't find Axiom speakers bright. *G*

I tried both and like the resistor adjustment better. I have the M60 in a small room and the resistor allow me to turn the volume up a little more when playing average or below average recorded materials.

This "brightness" issue seems to rear it's ugly head periodically. I am at the point now, when I see a post with the "bright" word I automatically move on to the next post. We should conduct a poll among Axiom owners and find out who thinks their speakers really are "bright". I for one do not think my M60's are "bright". I would say that they are more accurate than anything else. As one of the board members says "trust your ears"!

Of all people, I, probably started the single most controversial 'b' threads of all time. I tried the resistors on my m22s for about a day. I did not like the results. I learned to turn the treble down a bit and relish in the unmuted crystal clarity of the m22's in all their forward glory.

Im not sure what value resistors axiom is sending out to attenutate the highs but if you want even more or a little less you could always tweak the resistance value to essentially match the speakers to your taste.

Not to start a continuiation of a current issue about Axioms, but I did inform the person over the phone about the 'bright' description so often used for the Axioms. I gave my opinion of the M80s as forward, detailed, or like being seated in the third row at a concert, verses say rows twenty to twenty three. If they do not prefer that type of sound from speakers, then perhaps Axioms are not for them. Just my 02 cents worth.
