OK, I've deceided to keep my receiver, the NR-900 and add an amp and sub. Adding the sub should take the low end off the m80's (I'll set them to small in the receiver), and the crossover in the receiver to 80Hz. I still plan on adding a 2 channel amp for the m80's.
So my questions are:
Adding an amp for the m80, no problem. I plan on going with the parasound HCA-1000A or 1500a (2 channel amp). Is there any problems running multiple amps, can I have them come on automatically with the receiver. It doesn't have 12v triggers.
Also, can someone give me some info on subs. I have never had a sub, and I only want to do this once, so what are some good mid to upper level subs. Also, what's the difference between front firing and down firing. It's a carpeted floor on concrete.
Thanks,
Rick

In my opinion, Paradigm manufactures excellent subs. Here are a few mid/upper range models:
Mid-level: PS-1200
Upper-level: PW-2200
Upper-level:(reference): Servo 15
The Servo 15 is probably the best sub I have ever listened to. It is amazing musically and for home theatre. However, it does come with a hefty price tag(around $1,600 MSRP if I recall correctly).
