Trent confirmed on nin.com that With Teeth will come out in north america as a CD / DVD-A dualdisc for those interested. The mix was done by Trent and James Brown.
He claims the mix is better than that of the downward spiral. I assume the album may have been conceived with a 5.1 notion in mind. I may pick it up to hear it in 5.1 as I was previously unsure if I would be buying the album.

I'll probably get this. I too was considering giving this album a pass, but if the 5.1 mix is good, it will at worst be a good demo/reference piece. And if the album is good, then I have the best of all worlds with the duel disc.

have you downloaded the video for The Hand That Feeds off their website? With the audio higher quality, the song sounds much better.

I've heard the DL from the nin site as well as hearing it on the radio for the first time last night. So far, I like what I hear.
And yes, I had heard a while back that DVD-A or SACD was coming out at the same time as the regular album. Guess they decided just DVD-A....either is fine with me. I'll be picking up that version on 5/3. I'm also looking into details for the 4/1 listening party in Philly, and may attend that as well.
Will you bite the hand the feeds you?

Zarak,
I'd definitely attend a listening party if I lived close enough to one.
If you go, let us know your impressions. Apparently last nights' show (the 1st of their tour) was amazing.

Yah, it's better. I don't love it, but it's definitely more satisfying; not bad.
I'm not impressed with the video itself, however, which really is just an attempt to replay the March of the Pigs video (even implying at the end that it's a live recording like the March... video was; though it's clearly the studio recording, not live). Plus there seems to be some problem with the video and proscan, unless that's a deliberate combing effect...

i get the feeling it was deliberate. but the video is still pretty boring. march of the pigs and gave up, which are similar, are better videos because they are actually live, like you said. if the song on the video was played live and had soemthing different to it then what's on the cd, it would be better. it also just doesn't seem to fit the song, but then again, the band doesn't fit the song, especially not the last 1m30s or so when it gets really pop and repetitive
the song is much better, but i agre with you, not great. i still don't enjoy the other two leaked tracks, the line begins to blur and getting smaller (especially getting smaller, what a bad song).
once it's all out there on mp3 i'll give it a listen and then see if i buy it on dvd-a or not.

I am going to try to go to the listening party on Friday, so I'll wait until then to pass any judgement. I do agree that THTF gets repetitive, so it will likely be the type of song that people latch onto quickly and that burns out quickly as well.

The album samples are weird - they seem to actually be loops. They're not 1 minute samples of the songs, they're 5 seconds, maybe 20 seconds, then repeated.
Or so it sounds.
Haven't heard the live stuff yet - time to go to work!
