I'm contemplating the purchase of a Harman/Kardon AVR-525 to go with my M22, QS8, HSU VTF-3 system. I'm also pondering the purchase of the Yamaha S-2300 SACD/DVD-A/DVD-V player. The Yamaha DVD player has bass management capabilities as does the Harman/Kardon receiver. I've read that receiver based bass management converts and reconverts the incoming SACD/DVD-A signals degrading those signals and, therefore, all but eliminating the advanced resolution capabilities of these two formats. If this is so, does the bass management within the DVD-A/SACD player also degrade the signal. Any insight will be appreciated. Thanks.

Phil

I think players that do bass management do it before the initial D/A conversion, so it doesn't degrade the sound.

It's just diverting anything below the crossover point to the subwoofer. How would that degrade the signal?
