Looking at three a/v units.
Cousin of the Yamaha rxv1300 in disguise as htr 5590 @100x6
OR
The NAD new one T752 @80x5
Saving money with the NAD T751 60x5

SIDE BAR to the debate would be is 60watts enough for m60's, vp 150 etc?

Who's got them? Love the music. Always is about the music for me. Home theater is 50% or more of the useage but music is the joy.

looking for real team spirit from owners of both.
As always thanks for the help and good advice.

NAD owners are always in love with their gear.

I had a Yamaha that developed a buzzing sound in the rear and I had one channel blow out (service covered it).

Personally, I'd go to a dealer and listen to them both, but that's just me.

Went shopping with my dad couple of weeks ago. Had a budget of $1300 or under. Looked at NAD 752, Marantz, Yamaha and Denon and Rotel 1055. Sorry forgot the models. Couldn't tell the difference on HT on the systems. The Yamaha didn't seem to have the punch that NAD, Marantz, Denon or Rotel had. For music the NAD, Marantz and Rotel sounded the most musical, power and detail. In the end my dad pick up the NAD 752. Price on the Marantz and Rotel was more than what he wanted to pay. Normally he is a music guy. His music setup is Exposure Preamp and Poweramp, Rega Planet CD and tiny Proac Tablette Signatures. I havent heard a system under $6000 that gives as much detail and presence. I even prefer it over my floorstanders.

Michael, one of the receivers I use is an older NAD, and it's excellent. However, I don't suffer from any delusion that somehow there's a NAD "sound" which is better for "music". Sound is sound, whether it's Perlman on the violin or Schwartzenegger on the machinegun. Buy the features you want at the best price you can get.

Apparently you're looking at roughly $600. The 1300 and 5590 aren't identical cousins; possibly most important to some people would be that the 1300 has pre-outs and the 5590 doesn't. Since the prices are essentially identical, the 1300 might be the better buy.

Except in very large rooms at very high levels the conservatively rated 60 watts of the 751 should be fine with M60s.

In the $600 area I'd also be looking at the Sony DA4ES.

Enjoy the music, not the equipment.
