in that case, let me tell you about how i'm currently in the 7-day-off portion of my 5-week shiftwork rotation. yeah working nights kinda sucks (especially for the wife!), but having a week is really nice!!

Got to bed around 3:30am, fell asleep at about 4am.. was woken up at 7:30 this morning by a shape in a business suit I can only assume was Lisa asking to borrow my car. Honestly she probably could have asked for a kidney at that point and I would have agreed.
Went out when it was time for the rest of us normal people to get up to see what was wrong with her car... exhaust weld had broken just behind the catalytic converter. Now, I've heard open exhaust at different points in my life on all my buddy's muscle cars as I worked on them... '72 Plymouth Scamp with a 318LA police interceptor, '76 Monte Carlo with a 350SB, '79 Grand LeMans with a 305, '68 Charger with a 383... but there's something truly hokey about a 3.1L Pontiac with no exhaust.

I just returned from an extended, 5-day Memorial day weekend. Visited family, left the kid with grandparents and went camping on Santa Cruz Island (off the coast of southern California). We brought kayaks and explored some of the coastline. Amazing place. Next time, we'll bring snorkeling gear.

Did you do any portaging? I had to do that on my senior camping trip, I hated it. I also hate the word portage.

Beautiful coastline there, Peter. I went to college up in Santa Barbara. Had a nice view of the Channel Islands from the upper stories of the campus library (you know, where I studied. . .I mean took naps). Managed to do some fishing around the Islands before everything got shut down. My buddy came up with his boat once and we fished around the oil rigs as well. Not as scenic as the Islands, though. Miss the nice weather in Santa Barbara, as well as the laid back atmosphere. Cost of living there is pretty steep. Well, for me, at least.
