Beer in a whiskey cask = an Abomination!

I actually poured out the sample. That's right, you hard me! I poured out a beer and I feel no shame.

Just found out about this today. Here's the official description:

"The CCC is a first-time-one-of-it’s-kinds-not-just-one-time-only hybrid beer tasting concert event carnie freak show not for the weak of heart! Featuring the too-cool-for-school cult classic sounds of Fishbone and Geroge Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, plus an extraordinary roster of all the best artists you ever wanted to see on one stage in one weekend with a tall cold microbrew in your hand! And with all this you also get entertainment for the kids (if you really have to bring ‘em!), world class burlesque with the Pontani sisters, bonafide Coney Island Carny acts, and wooden nickels that actually do buy you something- 4 oz beer tastings from 50 of the countries (and Europe’s) best microbreweries! So come-one-come-all to the greatest show on earth!!"

But the best part is the breweries they'll have attending, including Dogfish Head, Bell's, Lagunitas, Stone, Het Anker, Huyghe, and Eggenberg (Samichlaus!)

I expect the good doctor to join me and will be contacting him shortly. Anyone else in the DC area want to meet up there?

Thanks for sharing that. That event sounds mighty interesting; I'll suggest it to my wife and let you know if we’ll be in attendance.

Sounds good to me!

Will get with you via PM to figure out details (what day? with family or "bachin' it"?)

My hometown brewery doesn't win any points for modesty, does it? Check out the Blue and Gray claims of "the best beer in the world" ... lol ...

Actually, to me, the best part sounds like Fishbone and Parliament Funkadelic playing in the same place, same night, and same decade.

I'd be jealous if those buggers hadn't blatantly stolen my sig line.

Hope you guys have a great time. Drink a Bell's Imperial Stout for me. I'll be expecting drunk dialing.

Nice find, chess. I wonder if the contents will ever be tasted. That's got to pack a hoppy wallop!

I went to the Capital City Carnival today with my wife and kids. In addition to witnessing my son's first ferris wheel experience and catching a bit of a sideshow featuring a very... flexible... belly dancer, I sampled many good beers:

Shenandoah Chocolate Donut Beer -- not as bad as I was expecting, quite drinkable, but I was glad is was a 4 oz. taster
Gouden Carolus Ambrio -- fantastic, as all the beers I've tasted from them are
Troegenator Double Bock -- by far, the best bang for the buck at the carnival. This one packed an extremely well hidden 8.2% abv behind a smooth, yet full flavor. This one got 5 of my tasting tokens (4 for a pint)
Anderson Valley Brother David's Double -- not a bad approximation of a belgian ale.
Bell's Porter -- a straight ahead porter, done right

I'm missing a few, but I caught the good ones. The carnival was actually pretty dead. I understand from talking to the volunteers that it didn't draw too many on the previous days, either, so I'd guess they have to revisit whether or not to make it an annual event. Hope it happens again.

I had a Unibroue Don de Dieu (yes, I do buy other brands... sometimes...) the other night. Very smooth, light, and tasty. Not nearly as complex as some of their others, but quite pleasant. I'll have to pick up some more bottles.

Also, Trader Joe's still seems to have some of the 2006 Anniversary Ale in stock. Get it now! I bought 4 bottles yesterday (750 mL), at $4.99 apiece. Why not?!
