Very nice looking I can almost smell it from here.

Did the recipe call for it to be primed w/honey? I never actually tried that myself. Dextrose won’t leave any flavours even if you pop one early and if you don’t want to dilute the maltiness with dextrose the a light dry malt extract also works.

Yeah, honey was in the recipe. I'll likely try corn sugar next. I'm grain free right now, so I should pick my next recipe soon.

I found a pretty informative blog post about cooking with beer. Might try some of the pointers tonight!

If anybody is going to be near Tacoma, WA on April 24-25, you are warmly invited to attend the 5th Annual Parkway Tavern Barleywine Festival with me.

Epic win pretty much guaranteed.

Had a Guilden Draak http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/48/155 on tap last night. Very tasty, with a very nice head. Unfortunately, it didn't stand up to the food well. Not to mention the pour was inexpert at best. Never been served a beer with a 2.5" head on it before...

and the food was... ? I bought a four pack of Gulden Draak a few weeks ago (pricey!) and liked it. I think I remember it being pretty heady.

Well, I had a charcuterie plate, there was a green salad, some lentil soup, and duck breast with asparagus, pearl onions, and mushroom. There was also some kind of wild rice fritter thing that wasn't particularly interesting.

Curious if any of you have built a kegerator out of a refrigerator, or a keezer out of a chest freezer. I'm starting my Keezer project soon with plans for 3 beers on tap for now.
