I've heard a lot of good things about Goose Island beers, but haven't had the opportunity to have any. Currently, my top "sessionable" beer is Bell's Two Hearted Ale. The brewery is in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

I like the Goose Island and Bell's beers, but don't see them very often where I live \:\(

As to session beers, usually a fairly small bitter or pale, or perhaps a cream ale. NOT ESB or IPA.

Ooooh. Firestone Walker Pale Ale is fantastic for sessioning. But it's not cheap.

Rate my beer lameness.

You guys are always posting about beers I've never heard of... I feel beer-ignorant. Does this mean that my usual choices are bad?

Killian's Red

Heineken

Sam Adams Lager

Harpoon IPA

LongTrail IPA

Corona

Sam Adams and Harpoon are solid breweries. Never heard of the others. ;\) Well, not Long Trail, anyway.

Hmmmm.... Long Trail is somewhat local.... I passed right by them last year on my way to a different brewery! \:\)

Good call, Peter. I should have thought of the FW pale.

Mark, not terminally lame, but I'm assuming the Killian's and Corona are REALLY cold and that you don't release their um, I guess you'd still call it "aroma" by pouring them into a glass?

Heineken in a can seems to travel a bit better than the bottled version.

Yes, cans are actually the best way to package beer (other than kegs - stainless or oak). Heini's green bottles let in the particular wavelength of light required to alter the hop character to the well known skunk aroma.

But there is a stigma attached to cans, so bottles get the nod. Brown is best for preserving all the intended character of the brew.
