You might try calling or emailing Amie at Axiom, it is possible there is someone in that area, just not on the audition thread. There has to be somebody I would think. What would you be driving the 80's with, can you drive 4-ohm speakers with your equipment?

Also I think I recently read on another post on here where KCMike auditioned the 60's against the 100's and found them to be sonically very close to the 60's, so the 80's actually might be a step up at a lower price...

Good question on the amp. It is a 15 year old Kenwood pre-amp and power amp set-up. I was speaking to Jc (Axiom) by e-mail and gave him the specs. he said that it should be fine. I may also contact Aime. Thanks for the input.

I haven't heard either, but I've heard people here say

a) The 100s have deeper, tighter bass(than the 60s, that is, to be expected with the 3 7" drivers vs 2 6.5" drivers).

b) The 100s, along with many other paradigms, have an upper bass hump not present on the 60s or 80s.

c) The 60s/80s have a bit over the 100s in the mids, rest is similar sounding.

And lastly, while sound quality between the two when compared 100% opinion - looking at their prices, I'm sure it's a fact two M80s would sound better than one Studio 100.

Ahh, just a prairie boy (MB) getting his joking shot in. Truthfully, though, a lot of us just took the plunge based on the advice of other owners and not many of those speakers get returned after the trial period!

I drove my M80s with an old Kenwood Basic M2A amp for some time.I never had a problem with it.

Dam this comes up a lot.....

I think they sound pretty close, but take what I say with a grain of salt. I'm no audiophile. I couldn't even tell you what a soundstage is. I know what sounds good and bad to me though....

But anyway, I'd try to listen to some 80's, then take the same CD to the store and listen to the 100's. Or, just buy the 80's and send them back if you don't like them. I have a feeling that you'll keep them though.

And I'd be lying if money wasn't a consideration with my choice, but I'm not exactly in the pore house either. If I really thought the 100's sounded better, I would have bought them. Hell, I was all set to buy some 703's, but wasn't all that impressed with them. I liked the 100's more.

Shaned, Before I purchased my M60s (I say I purchased, because I am not returning them now after about a month), I was debating between them, B&W 703 and Paradigm studio 100. I had a chance to hear them all (I heard m60s at somebody's home). True, Paradigm may have been a bit better in terms of bass and overall sound stage, but for the price.... m60 do just as good and yes... they sound similar.
