I've noticed a few posts recently by folks mentioning events in their past which made me curious about the age breakdown of forum members and lurkers. I made it a poll so, if you wish, you can remain anonymous. If, like me, you don't give a rat's rumba (I'd have sworn there was an "h" in that word) about your age (I'm 4 months away from the big six zero), feel free to make additional comments.

We already know that Amie is 31. But she still has to enter that in the poll.

Do like I did, Bray. At 40 I started counting backwards. I'm only 21 now!

What I can't figure out is why a 21 year old would feel so crappy, and not be able to touch his toes.

I held steady at 23 til my Mother-in-Law passed away in 1980; then lost interest in kidding her anymore.

Another B-Day sneaks up again in a few weeks.

A young 61

Having kids to keep you young is an idea that our youngest Daughter believes in also

She gave us her four kids aged four thru eleven to raise for her

It's cool...there are a lot of kids DVDs we wouldn't have purchased without the kids; and a lot of those DVDs have excelent sound tracks

Wow, I looked at those choices, and I don't like the selection I have to make. 40-49, 49 seems old. Can't you change it to 32-41? yep, I'm 41.

I hit the big three-o this year. I don't feel very old until I get a haircut and notice more and more grayish hair on the apron. I knew I hit the point of no return when the barber actually started shaving my ears. First it was the outside, now the inside! Ugh, where does all the hair come from? I hope it is not the hair from my head migrating elsewhere. . .

F107, I salute you. Four kids at 61!! That is amazing. I have 3 kids under 6, and I have never felt so exhausted in my entire life. All the time. And I'm only 36. The whole "kids keep you young" is a lie!

Actually, if I count ALL my kids they go from 35, 29, 27, then the Grandkids that we're currently raising of 11, 9, 7, and 4.

So yup....we raised one family in the 70s and 80s and we're raising a second one now

And speaking of age;....just hope to still be around to see the second batch grown

I'm running the same poll over at av123, and the results are remarkably similar.

Keep in mind that these are just one day's numbers. We'll revisit them after a few weeks, or whenever the poll stagnates, to see if things have changed or not.

Axiom

Un 20 = 2.5%
20-29 = 14%
30-39 = 40%
40-49 = 27%
50-59 = 13%
60-69 = 2.5%
70-79 = 01%

******************************

av123

Un 20 = 1%
20-29 = 18%
30-39 = 41%
40-49 = 25%
50-59 = 15%
60-69 = 00%
70-79 = 00%

******************************

Axiom 20-39 = 54%
av123 20-39 = 59%

Axiom 30-50 = 67%
av123 30-50 = 66%

Axiom 40-60 = 40%
av123 40-60 = 41%

******************************

Axiom over 50 = 16.5%
av123 over 50 = 15%

Axiom under 50 = 83.5%
av123 under 50 = 85%
******************************

Axiom under 30 = 16.5%
av123 under 30 = 19%

Axiom over 30 = 83.5%
av123 over 30 = 81%

Notice that for both forums 2/3 of the responders are between 30 and 49 (Axiom 66%; av123 67%).

But, The remaining 1/3 is split evenly on the Axiom forum, with 16.5% of the responders below 30 and 16.5% of them above 50. A perfect bell curve.

On the av123 forum the results are skewed more toward the younger demographic with 19% below 30 and only 15% over 50.

Hey Gang - been awhile. (Frank, I'll type louder so you can hear me )

Moved into the new home on June 4th (it was built 10 years ago). Beautiful place. Solid, well built. Lotsa nice touches. Unfortunately, the guy I bought it from either didn't grasp the concept or never heard the word - HANDYMAN. What a never-ending nightmare of annoying little things to repair/upgrade/fix/marvel over. Nothing major, just a stream of reversing idiocy and getting things taken care of.

Timing of the move (could NOT pass the house up) was bad as my daughter's wedding is on 8/20 and that has layered into the mix of eliminating any available leisure time. On the plus side though, I DO get to pay for the wedding!

The combination has contributed to a stunning bit of irony - I now live on a golf course (the 5th tee is 35 paces from my back door) and I'm playing LESS golf.

Anyhow, what were we talking about? Oh yeah - age.

I'm 58, but my hair was only 47 when it disappeared. My impressive collection of ear hair is only a few years old and drool seems to appear with alarming regularity, but doesn't age very long as my wife is a now exper "deft drool wiper".

Interestingly, Jack has ties older than I am. Also, while he is approaching 60 (God love ya!), several of his teeth never made it past 50.

Although I can't bench press my weight these days (but then, I never could), I do stay in shape by dragging my 40 pound Viagra lick around the house on a dolly. You never know when that "special moment" will arrive.

Gotta go - afternoon nap time.

Ray

Posted By: bridgman Re: Just how old ARE we? - 08/15/05 03:29 PM
The usual solution is to set up a "classic" system in the opposite end of your home, somewhere you can listen to LPs and... wait, you're not old enough for LPs.

Geez, I have albums older than most of you guys and I'm only at the midrange of the age distribution
Posted By: F107plus5 Re: Just how old ARE we? - 08/15/05 03:45 PM
My oldest "album" is a true "Album"

A collection of 78s in their own folders in a book form like a photo album, with a "contents" page in front to be filled in by the collector.

It's cool

Posted By: AshBoomstick Re: Just how old ARE we? - 08/15/05 05:13 PM
i've got a few "albums" but they're all of the Brer Rabbit and the Tar Baby type, you know the "turn the page when Tinker Bell chimes like this." and i had a suh-weet Fisher-Price turntable to spin 'em on too!
Posted By: PsychoPete Re: Just how old ARE we? - 08/15/05 05:45 PM
That's a good idea. I also have a Classic Pioneer SX-1250 and an AR-XA turntable. I doubt I would use it much but I could find a corner to put it in for nostalgia sake.
Posted By: littleb Re: Just how old ARE we? - 08/16/05 01:34 AM
I have a collection of vinyl albums from the 70s. I think most of them are warped, though. I don't know why I'm keeping them. I don't think I've ever seen a 78 with a warpage problem. A guy I work with has a garage full of 78s he's been collecting, along with other antique and not so antique stuff. His goal is to open an antique shop.

40... but I wish I was one standard deviation south of the mean. Two deviations would set me back to infancy and I could not NOT have Axioms.

46 but I still manage to run 50+ miles a week.

I'm into the 4th quartile at 48 (49 next month).

39 and turning the big FORTY in a month in a half. I'm beating the mid life crises now by buying my speakers this week
Posted By: thyname Re: Just how old ARE we? - 02/19/07 12:42 AM
Just turned 33 last month. I am glad to learn that I am not the oldest here Did I post my age here before?

Yeah; mine too. Now it's closing in on 63.

Sad too, since my old ship; the oldest active duty ship in the US Navy, USS Kitty Hawk, CVA63, will cease to exist while I'm 63.

Thanks guys. I wasn't really trolling for birthday congrats; it's just that my wife gave me my gift this morning - a new, super absorbent drool rag that matches the design of my Depends and I was pretty excited. At least until I forget. Errr...., what were we talking about?
Posted By: jakeman Re: Just how old ARE we? - 02/19/07 02:34 PM
60 yikes! Happy Birthday Ray, Its been a while. Now I'm feeling better at 53.

Posted By: jakeman Re: Just how old ARE we? - 02/19/07 04:52 PM
Hi Ray. He moved to Dallas after a reorg at Kodak to take a CEO job so I don't get there as much, though he kept his home in Rochestor. I'll PM you if I do or look me up if you are up this way. It would be great to see you again. Anyway, why do I have such a tough time imagining you as 60?
Posted By: sidvicious02 Re: Just how old ARE we? - 02/19/07 05:09 PM
Happy Birthday, Ray! Congrats on reaching the big milestone (is that even appropriate - it sounds very morbid to say that). May all your fairway misses be in the first cut!

Good question, because I sure don't

Before any of you think me an insensitive clod, I sent Ray a special birthday PM. So there's no need for me to be polite, or wish him a special . Besides, I'm older than he is.

Happy Birthday Ray!!!

Happy birthday, Ray. Hopefully, that drool rag is mobile, so you can wheel it out to the 18th.
Posted By: medic8r Re: Just how old ARE we? - 02/19/07 06:08 PM
Happy birthday, Ray!

I am 38, and like Randy a couple of years ago, just faced my 20th high school reunion. Medical school 10 year reunion is this year.

I'm happy to not be an outlier on the curve for once. Take that for what you will.

Thanks so very much for the kind birthday wishes. I feel kinda bad - this is a major thread hijack that I didn't intend to do. On the other hand, at my age I'll forget about it in 10 minutes!

I'm anxious to get home and start reading the other gift my wife got for me. It's a book titled "How To Line Up Your Fourth Putt".

What a wonderful surprise it must have been for both of us to discover your birthday, Ray.

Warmest wishes, my friend.

Craig, Tom, Shawn - thanks so much.

Mike - that picture is frightening. I look more like Tark than I don't look like him. Where is my Oil of Olay? Ah, right here beside my caffinated Geritol and my Metmucil.

You make me feel a little younger at a mere 45.

Ray, Happy Birthday! Don't worry, you won't get any old jokes from me. You're way past that now--try "ancient".
Posted By: JohnK Re: Just how old ARE we? - 02/20/07 12:52 AM
Happy Birthday, Ray!(I was watching in case it was slipping through the cracks, and would have announced such a momentous event, if necessary).

Ray
All the best on your Birthday.

Ray, there is something I've been wondering.

What was it like the day they invented dirt?
Posted By: bray Re: Just how old ARE we? - 02/20/07 05:32 AM
After you describe that day ............

tell us about rocks.

hmmm,

Didn't read the whole thread, but I may just be the youngest at 24 years old...
Posted By: jakewash Re: Just how old ARE we? - 02/20/07 04:47 PM
You are definately at the lower end, I am near the median at 40.

30 here. But you're not the youngest.

Just found this old thread. Wow! Wonder what’s happened with a lot of these members. Back then (2005/2007) this group sounded like a great bunch of people! Way before my time. Almost forgot to include, I’m 67.

RIP Jack. We've lost a lot of good members over the years to other priorities. I was Facebook friends with some until I left Facebook recently. Those were good times back then. My first order was for M80s in 2006.
