AF, several on the board use 1400s or 2400s with Axiom speakers and may reply later. Neither they nor any other well-designed receiver "sound" at all, they just transparently amplify the sound that they're given. A 2400(or even a 1400 in your small room) would be an excellent choice to use with the M60s or any of the Axiom speakers and would have more than enough power. The new Denon 3805 shares with the Yamahas the advantage of automatic room equalization and it's unknown at this time whether one is more effective than the other. The basic sound of the speakers would be identical with either, of course, but if some other feature of the 3805 attracts you and the higher price(the microphone is about $60 extra) is acceptable, you won't go wrong with that either.
