I'm looking to get something better than the vp150. I've had it since last september and although I've enjoyed it, I was hoping for a more theatrical sounding speaker. My first thought was to get a higher end center from another company. Some have argued heavily against this.

So my next idea, after watching several blu rays on 2ch(M60's), was to get two more M60's to work as the center channel. I'm excited about this idea, but I haven't yet discussed it with any audio experts.
My first question is,would there be a problem with having 4 m60's across the front, two being the centers(3 ft apart)? How about a pair of M22s? And the next question being...How does one go about doing this? I was planning to get the LMC-1, LPA-1 combo to power all this. I have a yamaha v2600 at the moment. Are the emotiva's(or something else) necessary to carry that load?

Current set up: VP150, M60 mains, Qs8 surrounds, 2 M2i backs. V2600 reciever

Also...Concerning the LPA-1, Does that power output also add on to the V2600 watts, or is it just 125W per channel? If not I might as well stick with my V2600.

Thank you for that link, some of that was very encouraging. Any input anyone might have would be much appreciated. How does one go about having two speakers as your center channel? Does it involve Bi-wiring? Someone please enlighten me.

Drew, mdrew has 2 M22s across the front of his theatre, he loves them.

He will chime here in probably. I would recommend this option.

Drew, it's unclear what you mean by "theatrical sounding", but it's certainly feasible to use two M22s or M60s for a center. They would be wired in parallel from the center channel output of your amplifier(no, that isn't the useless scheme referred to as biwiring, or "buywiring"), with two wires connected to the output terminals and one connected to each speaker. There's a probability that your 2600 could handle this lower impedance load without needing more amplification, but in any case it shouldn't be assumed that it can't.

I'd also wanted more from the VP150 (with M80 fronts) and attempted several configurations from 2 M22's, 2 M3's, VP100+VP150, and finally settle with the Vp150 set on top of an M3, forming a 'T'.
The M3 sits on the floor and is connected to one channel of a stereo amp with the VP150 connected to the other, sounds great but now I'm in the market for a single used M3 as a replacement for the rear surround.

How about two M60s (or maybe M80s) mounted horizontally with their tweeters adjacent to each other?

Thanks everyone I appreciate the comments, now my only problem is choosing the right speakers. Would there be any special problems in having 4 m60's across the front as opposed to m60 mains and m22 centers?

One last question important question, if I were to buy an external amplifier...how does it work? Does the power of the amp(lets assume the LPA-1) add on to the power already being dished out by my V2600? Does an amp need any extra equipment to work? Can it even be hooked up with my reciever? Thanks in advance for the help!
