Hi all,
I'm planning to buy a 5.1 speaker system soon. Budget will be around 2500,00$. This system will be installed in a 12' X 18 ' room and will be equally used for music and movies.
Since I have a pair of old Energy Pro 22 for some years (make it 10 or 20) and still love the sound of them, I was looking at Energy Reference Connoisseur speakers (Front=RC-30, Centre=RC-LCR, Rear=RC-LCR and Sub=S10.3).
Problem is the Axiom Epic 60_350 system seems quite a contender here....
Question #1 : Is there someone who can share his listening experience on the Epic 60 vs Energy ?
Question #2 Is a upgrade to a VP-150 is worth the price ?
Question #3 : What should be a good amp to match the Epic 60_350 ? (I'm used to Denon or Yamaha but open to your good suggestions)
Thanks in advance !

I find the M60s to be more open/clear sounding than the Energy's and to have all the same drivers across the front is worth the change to an Axiom center channel; for your size of room the VP100 would work just as well as the 150.
I would head over to the Hearing Things forum and check the sticky at the top for a possible audition in your area.

Peter, welcome. I don't have any experience with listening to the M60 and Energy on the same occasion, which is the only listening comparison that would even come close to being valid. Hopefully you might be able to arrange to hear the M60s, which would at least give you an idea of their quality in isolation.
As to the receiver, there's no need to be concerned about looking for a "match"; clean power is universally applicable and the Axiom speakers certainly don't have any unusual requirements. A Denon, Yamaha, Onkyo, Pioneer or whatever which has the features that you want and fits your budget will be fine.
