I have an old silver faced, short infested, left channel only working Technics which I purchased new in 1879. I loved it when it was alive. I have it stuffed in a cabinet in the basement. I can't seem to bring myself to have the funeral.

Cool, those early Technics units are real collectors items. Anything before WW1 is gold

Hi,
I don't know how 'low' or 'high' is your budget. If you're an 'engineer/technician' (means you can fix the receiver if problems arise), then you may get some bargain old receiver. If not, you better go for new one or the possible repair cost will not justify your spending.
By thw way, I still have my Pioneer VSX-9500 bought in 1989. It still works fine but it only has Dolby ProLogic, surround, can't make use of the current DVD audio feature like 5.1 6.1 7.1, Dolby ProLogic II etc.
Get yourself an early Christmas gift.
