I don't know how 'low' or 'high' is your budget. If you're an 'engineer/technician' (means you can fix the receiver if problems arise), then you may get some bargain old receiver. If not, you better go for new one or the possible repair cost will not justify your spending.

By thw way, I still have my Pioneer VSX-9500 bought in 1989. It still works fine but it only has Dolby ProLogic, surround, can't make use of the current DVD audio feature like 5.1 6.1 7.1, Dolby ProLogic II etc.
