Reporting from Cleveland. I don't think we got as much snow as they were predicting. It's difficult to tell because we had a varying amount on the ground before this storm started, and the wind is blowing pretty strong causing drifting and even more diverse depths.
I just went out and shoveled my drive and walk. Up by my porch, which is slightly sheltered from the wind, it was only about 4 inches deep. Where my walk meets the sidewalk, where the wind has been piling it up, it was about 14 inches deep. Fortunately, since it's so cold, it's a dry light snow and not difficult to shovel. Except, of course, where the city has come along plowing the road, creating a 3 foot deep pile of icy, hard snow at the end of my driveway. Thank you very much.
Though we are still under a storm warning until 4 AM, it's tapering off a bit.

I drive a lifted Jeep so I don't have to shovel the driveway but I'm out pretty much every day shovelling the back yard so the dogs can get out.
Be thankful you have a female dog. I have two males, so I have to go out and stand something up in the snow for them to use as a target. I think a male dog would burst before doing their business on an endless flat surface.

It's still coming down in Philly, but don't worry, the fans will be at the game. They've had crews working all night to clear stuff out, and they are opening things up extra early to give the fans plenty of time to get down and into the stadium. I would like to have tickets, but considering the weather I think I am just as happy to watch from home. It is supposed to be in the teens at kickoff with a wind chill below 0 F.

You don't put little booties on them when they go out in the snow, do you?

I probably would if I could find some that fit and work well. They're fine in the deep snow (except for getting lost in the drifts) but their pads freeze up quickly on plowed/iced/salted roads and sidewalks so walking them in the winter is a problem. This winter has been unusually cold so most of their exercise has been "fetching" in the rec room which is fine for them but isn't doing much for my waistline.
There are some great boots made for police K9s which go on easily, let the dogs run, and protect their paws from just about anything. Apparently there aren't a lot of 20 pound police dogs in SWAT teams though, having a bit of trouble finding boots in the right size.
Pet shop booties don't even seem worth trying.
EDIT -- just realized you meant "in the back yard". Nope, it's amazing how fast they can get out and back when the weather is bad.

Thank you, Mark. I'm no longer feeling sorry for myself.
