HG Rosewood's (I think I'm done)

I am putting the link up for my previous gallery so I won't have to post all my old pics back here. My system has changed quite a bit since I joined up here a few years ago. In this gallery I will give all the details of my current setup and hopefully my last setup. So here we go!

http://www.axiomaudio.com/boards/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showgallery&Number=212511#comments

All my speakers have the HG Rosewood finish. the setup has:
Fronts M80's
Centre VP180
Side Surrounds A's M80's
Side Surrounds B's QS8's
Rear Surround VP150
Subwoofers front l and r EP800's
Subwoofer rear EP500

Other equipment
Powering the front soundstage Axiom A1400-8
Powering all the surrounds in bridged mode Denon POA-A1HDCI
Pre-Pro Denon AVP-A1HDCI
Universal player OPPO BDP-83
DVD player OPPO DV-983H
Satellite Receiver Bell 9242
Apple TV
Monitors 60" Pioneer Kuro PRO-141FD For watching visuals
23" Samsung SyncMaster 2333HD For listening to music

That's it.
I will "suffer" with what I currently have until death us do part. laugh
Maybe one day I will get a proper HT room but not in my current house. Luckily I have no more room for speakers.

With this HT system, that's how you spend cold days in Canada. Hockey Night in Canada gotta be awesome. Impressive...and that's an understatment.

I used my VP150 off and on as a rear for about a year before trading it in. I felt it was better as a rear speaker than center and better than having nothing back there. I also tried a single M22 and a Single QS8 as a rear everything about 5-6 feet back. I think the single VP150 sounded marginally better than the M22 but the QS8 sound a little better than the VP150.

The biggest difference was made by using two rear speakers. Both dual M22s and QS8s sounded better than a single VP150 with the QS8s winning the match against the M22s this time.

Thanks for the info grunt.:)
I would not be able to use 2 rears due to the entrance way into the kitchen and a door to the basement in the one corner. The VP150 already juts out a bit being right behind me. Maybe I will win the lotto one day and build a real HT. Maybe I should start by buying a lottery ticket to increase my odds. grin

Edit: I'm sorry but I was going to call you Dean but my mind is a blank right now. So if you are Dean I apologise for not using your given name

The biggest problem I had with using a single direct radiating speaker behind me was as others have mentioned here it was difficult to discern whether the sound was really coming from behind or from up front when sitting directly in front of the rear speaker. The direct radiators actually did well as single rear channels for the L/R seats when I tried them out.

I think the single QS8 worked a little better because of the way the spread out the sound the sound. Just a thought, however, that if you don’t have a full wall behind you for a QS8 to reflect off you might not get as much improvement as I did switching over though I could be wrong since I’ve always had a wall behind me.

I realize you can’t use dual rears but for sake of trying to explain why I think they worked better was that I can place them in between the L/C/R seats so no speaker is directly behind a listener.

Yep I’m Dean. AKA Kevin (a coworker I’m often confused with), AKA Dean hug! (carpool buddies 2 year old always says them together meaning she wants a hug), AKA crazy Dean (I talk, often argue, with myself at work to make others think (realize?) I’m crazy) AKA Scruffy (self explanatory) the list goes on but those are the most common. wink

I played one lottery 6 times. Took one of those scratch off tickets as change at a gas in CA. I won $5 and just took five more tickets all of which lost. Now I’m done.

Speaking of throwing money away. The VP at work is planning to go to Vegas. He has $2000 saved to play the slots with. I'm trying to convince him if he wants to go to Vegas, go ahead, but just take in shows and have a good time. Forget the gambling.

I keep telling him that $2000 would get him a nice, entry level receiver plus a 5.1 set of Axioms. He already has a 46" Panasonic plasma, a PS3, and upgraded his Dish Network to HD, all thanks to me.

Man, $2000 should be enough to cover all of Hesta Prynn's expenses for DJing my party.

Any recommendations from the gurus out there on what would be a good disk for me to play to really hear any differences from my rear surround channel. Who knows, maybe when I head out to Axiom in Sept I will just purchase the QS8 and be done with it. smile

I buy about $5 worth of lotto tickets a week. Usually Missouri Lotto since you get 10 sets of numbers for $5. But when Powerball goes $200million plus, I buy it instead.

Total winnings, about $90. Total spent, probably about $3000 overall since the lotto started in the 1980's.

Onn, I have the Blue Man Group: Audio (DVD Audio) here . It's really well done, utilizing the surrounds. It also has a lot of bass. I highly recommend it.

The Blue Man Group looks interesting. I can't wait to get the blu-ray.
