You're correct. You can bi-amp the M80ti, using a separate amplifier to drive the woofers. Typically, the advantage of this arrangement is that you'll have lots of power dedicated to the woofers, where it's needed, and you can get away with a smaller amp for the midrange and hi-frequency drivers. Moreover,where a sudden burst of bass energy were to starve a single amplifer of power available to the midrange and tweeters, bi-amping nicely avoids this situation. The downside? It's an expensive solution for only marginal improvements in sound quality. Still, it's always fun to experiment, and if you have a second amp kicking around at home, you can always try it out.
