I think jackson would be more than happy to do the next 2 films for the series. He has a passion for tolkien's writing and his passion is shown throughout the epic LOTR movies.

To say that he doesn't want anything to do with it is just obserd, he spent how many years devoting himself to this project? 1995 - 2003, 8 years. I think he would love to continue.
