Mark, this is yet another of the audio mythologies that continue to float around. Keeping in mind that a woofer cycles hundreds of times and a tweeter thousands of times in the very first second of operation, any initial break-in has already happened in the first minute or so when the speakers were tested at the factory. It's sometimes been said, perhaps not entirely tongue-in-cheek, that "Break-in was invented so that we could never return anything!".
