lostmykeys... \:D

First off I want to say thank you to our gracious hosts chesseroo and his wife for taking time out of their day and welcoming my wife and I into their home for an Axiom audition. Not only did we get to audition the Axioms but we received an audio education.

The visit started with the opening of a bottle of Lingenfelder Bird Label 2005. What a glorious way to start an afternoon and complement the assortment of cheeses and crackers that were laid out on trays awaiting our arrival.

Chesseroo first took us for an A B speaker test of some bookshelfs to point out nuances to listen for when auditioning speakers. I listened to a couple of tracks with my eyes closed while he switched the speakers back and forth and we discussed our thoughts on the sound.

He then led us to his home theatre room but before we got there I requested a tour of his wine cellar (I had seen the pics that he posted). \:\) After a brief architectural description of how he had constructed his theatre room, we got down to business.

The demo material consisted of various genres and recording qualities. Then a bottle of Vineland semi-dry Riesling 2006 was opened. He also included DVDA and explained the difference between this and other formats. He then moved on to some movies so we could hear the detail of movie soundtracks.

My description is not doing justice to the wealth information that shared with us today or the hospitality that was shown. We had a great afternoon (although my wife was overwhelmed with all the information provided by chesseroo...I'm the tech guy in my household).

I am going to visit a few retailers here to listen to more speakers but so far I've got my eyes on either an Epic 60 or Epic 80 system with an EP500. I'm also considering a Denon 3808CI. If anybody has this receiver I'd like to hear your thoughts.

Thanks again chesseroo. I hope we can get together again sometime. And I'd like to hear what you think of that bottle of Barahonda Monastrell after you've had a chance to taste it.
