The QS8s (and the QS4s) are extremely forgiving as far as placement is concerned. As long as the front of the speaker is pointing in the general direction of your head, you'll be fine.
Well, I read an article the other day that said dipoles work by canceling sound traveling directly at the listeners, and the sound heard is reflected off the walls. As there is no wall to reflect sound, I'm concerned that a dipole's performance would be significantly affected.
In relationship to the listener, the speaker will be in the ideal location, just without a wall behind it.
