I have 9ft ceilings and a 10ft wide 2.35: 1 constant height screen, 51"tall x 120" wide. My 80's are currently on a stage up front so they won't fit underneath, but if I was not on a stage they would fit fine. Not sure about 8ft ceilings.

What is important is that the drivers are not the same distance from the side walls as they are from the back walls. Plus, you could toe-in the speakers slightly anyway, which works great.
