I stained a small piece of trim with Olympic 'Merlot' stain and then after it dried applied a top coat of Minwax 'Red Mahogany' stain ... looks like it matches the speakers pretty darn close.


If that plan does not work out to your liking, think about using cheap MDF for the frame, and then apply a real cherry veneer stained to match the speakers. Given how small the surface area of the frame is, you don't need much veneer and the stain would take only a little bit of time. Just a second option if the paint does not work out.
