Peter, since you were able to verify earlier that the statement on the Hsu site about a high-pass output on the VTF-2 was incorrect, you have good reason to look for a way to achieve that(although the difference won't be huge). I haven't done an exhaustive search, but I'm not aware of any stereo receiver or amp of moderate cost which has a variable crossover sub output which would also high-pass the mains. As Curtis mentioned, you can consider a multi-channel HT receiver and use it for stereo, although you'd then be ready to expand your system if you'd want to. Two inexpensive receivers which have variable 80-150Hz crossovers are the Denon 1804(under $400) and the JVC 8030(under$300).
