I too use FLAC files(EAC ripped) sent to a Squeezebox. It offers a lot of functionality. It accepts MP3, FLAC and other music formats, lets you listen to Internet Radio Stations and lets you use some included music services like Pandora and others. (Assuming you live in the U.S.)
I also stream the same music, along with still pictures and video & movies from the same PC to my PS3. It is a great little remote media player once you get used to the controller as a remote but there are now remote control solutions.
