Nut, as I quoted him, Dr. Toole explains why first order reflections should be promoted(not suppressed)by bare side walls in front of the speakers, but among the treatments he does suggest(p.507)is absorbing material on the center portion of the front wall behind the speakers
Thanks John, that makes sense to me, but why the centre of the front wall? Isn't that normally where the display is located? In my case I plan on a front projection screen, so I won't be able to put panels there. I may be able to put some directly behind the front LCR speakers though, since they surround the screen. I wonder if putting treatments behind the M80's will suck up the bass coming out of the ports?
