With the Full Metal Bracket, there will be a gap between ceiling and the back of the speaker. The only hardware that gets the back of the QS flush with the mounting surface is the T-bracket.

The T-bracket can't be used on the ceiling. It's designed to only be used with gravity pulling along the length of the assended in the T.

That said, QS8s mounted high enough up on the wall (above the normal sight line) will virtually disappear. Pick a color blends in (paintable finish, and your wall paint), and I'm betting the other wives (and probably your own) won't notice. I have black QS8s against white walls, people don't notice them until I point them out.

I'd say get them without the brackets and give it a shot on the wall. You'll really be rewarded with how much better they sound to the side of your head rather than above.
