Tacoma, Washington is home to the only golf course in America designed for disabled veterans,
American Lake Veterans Golf Course.Tacoma is my home town, and has been the location of McChord Air Force Base and Fort Lewis (now Joint Base Lewis McChord) for a very long time. I think Camp Lewis was established during WWI.
At any rate, the presence of the two large bases in addition to our sublime climate and proximity to the Pacific Rim has long made our area a wondrously diverse settlement that includes many current and former military families.
Pepper Roberts was a teacher of mine in High School shortly after he retired from the Navy. Good man. I've met Ken Still at several events. I'm proud and happy that this facility is in my community. Thanks to the Uncrate/Devour crew for spreading the story.
