Welcome Cary. I think you'll be fine with a VP 100 or 150 (there's nothing wrong with those speakers), its just that from my personal experience you'd be better with an M2 or M22 center. I understand off-axis is not a concern for you, so one of the advantages goes away, but in my room I found the M2 to be a better match for the M22's on axis and better tonal qualities for both voice (male voice in particular) and brass instruments for music (i.e. big movie fanfare introductions). I didn't realise what I was giving up until I did back to back comparo - not double blind, but as unbiased as I could do within my setup. YMMV.
